Under attack....
I'm back from San Francisco -- and under attack. Philip Zelikow is not happy with the book. But it appears he is not nearly as distressed by "The Commission" as a group of activists who believe that the 9/11 was an "inside job'' by the Bush administration and are angry that I do not argue that in my book.
I can measure their anger by the response to the book on Amazon.com, in which readers can offer their reviews to a global audience.
I'm gratified that so many Amazon.com customers seem to like the book. The majority of my reviews are five "stars,'' which is as good as it gets. I was nearly moved to tears by a couple of those reviews. But I now receiving two or three "stars'' from activists who believe that I have ignored the evidence that the government is somehow behind the 9/11 attacks.
It's odd to me that these same people don't see that I have given them a new opening to make their case. Instead, they denounce me -- and anyone else who does not support their larger theories -- to argue that I must be part of the conspiracy. Phil Shenon

Well put Sir. I would add that your expose makes a very compelling, if indirect, case for a new investigation, a must-do to get to the whole truth. In fact your book has already led the Jersey widows and Monica Gabriele to call for a new inquiry in a statement they released and posted by FBI whistleblower Colleen Rowley at Huffington Post. www.huffingtonpost.com/_85343.html
Personally I wish you had told the story of citizen investigators like Paul Thompson and revealed the role of my group, 9/11 CitizensWatch, which was in fact the first to formally call for Zelikow's resignation. From day one of the Commission, and before, this group of everyday concerned citizens and millions of others began to challenge the official story. Unfortunately, despite the substantive evidence calling many aspects of the story into doubt, the mainstream media painted all of it with the broad brush stroke of 'conspiracy theorists' which was grossly unfair and irresponsible.
A true uncensored history would have told the story of the citizen investigators and advocates that fought right along side the 9/11 families to get beyond an obvious cover-up by a deeply compromised commission to learn the truth.
9/11 Citizenswatch, for its part, brought its own questions to the Commission, confronted Commissioners and staff, and wrote a strong fact based critique of Commission findings. The week Clarke testified a number of family members joined us for a press conference at the National Press Club that was aired live on C-SPAN. Though the video of that conference was amongst the most popular on the C-SPAN site for a week, right along side Clarke's Commission testimony, we were ignored by the MSM.
That month we ran dramatic full-color posters in every car of the DC Metro system calling upon Bush, Cheney, Clinton, Gore and Rice to testify in public under oath before the 9/11 Commission. Not a peep from the MSM about this campaign. Rice was effectively forced to testify by public pressure. And eventually Bush and Cheney agreed to meet the Commissioners, albeit with many conditions.
I don't mean to blow my own horn here. Well, maybe a little in the interest of 'uncensored' histories. But my larger point is that the media not only largely ignored the substantial questions raised by the 9/11 widows, but also, many other citizens investigators and advocates who, long before most, were fighting to expose the cover-up, the deception and the lies.
Now thanks to works like yours, the release of new OIG reports, the Moussaoui trial, the declassified FBI timeline, we are beginning to see the facade of legitimacy fall from the 9/11 Report. A full account will reveal the vital role of millions of Americans in standing up to disinformation and so-called 'non-partisan' compromise disguised as truth and a 'full accounting'. History will smile on their role as the driving force behind a new investigation that will determine whether or not their was, in fact, a wider circle of complicity, including insiders, somehow involved in the attacks of Septemeber 11th.
Those that attack you are not helping the cause. And to those attacking you, accusing you, I would encourage a new civility and discourse in which facts are presented respectfully and relentlessly until a larger community of interest and adovocates are able to constructively connect the dots, perhaps even with your help Mr. Shenon.

Your comment this afternoon on the Sam Seder show on AirAmerica regarding WTC7 was disingenuous at best. Contrary to your claim, there are architects and engineers who support the "free-fall" explosion theory (See AE911Truth.org). Either you haven't done your homework, sir, or you have intentionally misdirected the discussion. Just as Mr. Zelikow managed to do throughout the Commission's investigation.
